What does a Honeymoon and Destination Wedding Specialist do anyway? A lot of couples that we meet have this exact question from the start.
With many of our couples growing up using the internet and so many travel sites out there today, you are probably asking why do you need a planner/agent/consultant (whatever term you want to use, we prefer consultant)? Or even, what is a travel consultant? And what can we do for you that you can’t do for yourself?
You have questions and we want to answer those. Let’s start with the “why” and the “what” to help give you more insight?
Maui, also known as the Valley Isle, is the 2nd largest of the Hawaiian islands. The size of the island is not what makes it so appealing though. It’s the natural beauty, amazing sunsets, the local people and very special Aloha Spirit that enhances any visit to Maui. It’s one that must be experienced personally to understand.
Let’s discuss some of the more popular reasons that couples continue to choose the island of Maui as their honeymoon destination.
The world is a big place. With so many places to see and explore, how do you decide where you will spend your honeymoon and why is it right for you? And what are the “new” destinations that are becoming more and more popular in the honeymoon world?
Contrary to popular belief, the key to a designing a great honeymoon is to NOT start with the destination. When you start with a specific destination(s) you limit the possibilities from the beginning. And in the end, based on your criteria and interests, there my be a better fit. I recommend going through some specific questions to start. Rank what it a must have, nice to have, etc. and then figure out what destinations fit your criteria best.
First lets talk about some things to consider in defining your criteria on honing in on possible destinations.
As you know, we at Honeymoons Designed are very passionate about (and good at, if I might add) arranging Romantic Travel Experiences.
Our belief is that to create and design a very personalized and extraordinary travel experience you must devote time to the planning stage. There aren’t many couples who know what they really want. Many develop ideas in their mind, but after asking some questions and explaining more, they realize what they really want is something different than what they originally had in mind. With any planning, you must answer some key questions to set the direction. In our lives we do this with many important financial decisions, buying a car, buying a house, planning a wedding, so why wouldn’t you do it with THIS important occasion, planning a honeymoon?
What should you discuss upfront to uncover (or narrow down) what your ideal honeymoon is?
As you know, we at Honeymoons Designed are very passionate about (and good at, if I might add) arranging romantic travel experiences. Over the next several weeks I will be blogging about some of my top honeymoon planning tips. They will be posted in no particular order, however, I think #1 is pretty high on the list.
Just last week I was visiting my friends and family back home in New Jersey. We were walking the boardwalk in Ocean City, NJ and stopped in a great little craft store. I found a perfect sign that really depicts what I have been saying to couples for years now, in different words. Here is what was on the sign.
“When Was The Last Time You Did Something For The First Time?“
We are asked this question (a lot it seems). While in our minds we know the many reasons, but to someone unfamiliar with Honeymoons Designed, possibly never having worked with a travel agent or agency in the past, and growing up not knowing anything other than the internet, I can see where this would be an important question.
Over the past week we have been posting some compelling reasons, and answers, on our Facebook page. I decided to write a blog post incorporating them as well so the information doesn’t get lost in cyber-land.
Let’s start with this simple fact. Yes, you can book travel online and there are many different sites to do this on. However, just because you can doesn’t mean you should. We can all prepare our taxes online too, but does that mean we should? For those who have no idea of the tax laws and/or have more complicated tax returns, the answer is probably “No”. We could all change the oil in our car too, but does that mean we should? I could use this example with many different scenarios. In the end it will come down to a personal choice or preference.
There are aspects of planning a vacation that are really fun, and then those that are not so much. Today we should discuss Travel Insurance. Why is it so important? Should you purchase it, not purchase it? Aren’t all policies the same?
Let’s start with WHY travel insurance is so important. If you’ve ever had to rely on, or file a claim with, your travel insurance, you may already have answers to this question.
