As you know, we at Honeymoons Designed are very passionate about (and good at, if I might add) arranging romantic travel experiences. Over the next several weeks I will be blogging about some of my top honeymoon planning tips. They will be posted in no particular order, however, I think #1 is pretty high on the list.
Just last week I was visiting my friends and family back home in New Jersey. We were walking the boardwalk in Ocean City, NJ and stopped in a great little craft store. I found a perfect sign that really depicts what I have been saying to couples for years now, in different words. Here is what was on the sign.
“When Was The Last Time You Did Something For The First Time?“
How does this relate to your honeymoon you ask? It’s very simple. Think about this. When you do something new and fun for the very first time in you life, how do you feel? Do you have a little more excitement about it? And have more anticipation? Do you tend to remember the details of the experience better? Think about the very first time you met your fiance (before you knew you would be getting married), or your first date? Do you remember the details? What are they? Now think about your 8th date? What are the details?
As humans we tend to remember the “firsts” more than the seconds, thirds, fourths, etc. Let’s apply this to travel. Think about if you were to vacation at the same exact destination, hotel, etc. time and time again. Do you look forward to it as much? Do things tend to feel more common and almost like you are on auto-pilot?
With your wedding and honeymoon being a very special occasion and time in your lives, I truly believe, and highly recommend, that you choose something for your honeymoon that neither of you has experiences before. Choose a destination, activities, romantic aspects, that neither of you has ever done in your lives. Celebrate, explore, and make new memories together, for the very first time as a married couple! I can guarantee that you will remember this more than choosing a destination you have been to prior. I encourage you to go beyond your comfort zone. Dig deep and let that adventurous side of your personalities come out. Go beyond the ordinary and make your HONEYMOON EXPERIENCE extraordinary.
So how do you go about arranging a unique and extraordinary honeymoon? We’ll cover this in more detail in future posts but the first step is to pull out your travel bucket list. If you don’t have one that’s ok, this would be a great time to start one. And if you aren’t sure how to start one or go about arranging the time-consuming details, we can assist.
What are some of your personal ideas for your once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon experience? What are your priorities and what is important to you as a couple? We would to hear more about your dreams!
