Maybe this question should be reversed. What's NOT extraordinary about Hamilton Island? I am going to tell you below, so keep reading. But first things first. If you haven't heard of Hamilton Island or the Whitsunday Islands you are in for an absolute treat and will be glad that I introduced you. Celebrities like Oprah, Taylor Swift, Leonardo DiCaprio and many others love this paradise. Flocking to the tropical oasis to escape the everyday. This island is not just a haven for celebs, however, it's also very popular with all vacationers. Whether it's an everyday getaway, honeymoon, anniversary or milestone celebration, family vacation, friendmoon and more! "Hamo" (as the locals refer to it) has something for everyone in many budget ranges.
The saying goes a "picture is worth a thousand words" so several pictures should be worth several thousand words. Right? I may not know that many words but I would venture that between all of us we can come up with some amazing descriptors, emotions, and ideas. Since this island in the Whitsundays is so stunningly picturesque I'm going to use more photos instead of words for this post. Let's start with the video below (courtesy of Visit Queensland). Click the "Read More" link to satisfy your curiosity and get ready for incredible "eye candy".
Now, where is this paradise located? Hamilton Island is the largest inhabited island of the Whitsunday Islands, located in Queensland, Australia. It is approximately 550 miles north of Brisbane and 320 miles south of Cairns, off the east coast of Australia. Still not picturing it? Here is a link to Google Maps so you can see!
48 Hours on Hamilton Island just isn't enough. As soon as your arrive you can feel this sense of peace, the weight of your life stresses lifted off your shoulders. The soft breeze, smell of salty air and the anticipation of the treat that awaits, makes the journey all worth while. You will soon fall into the relaxed and casual, yet simple elegance that "Hamo" is.
After reading/seeing this, if you have decided to add this to your bucket list, I suggest a minimum of 3 nights here, 4-7 is ideal so that you can really have amble time to do numerous activities and adventure, with time to indulge and relax. A stay here makes for a very nice break in an adventurous schedule allowing you time to relax, unplug, disconnect and take it the spectacular beauty the Whitsundays are known for.
Let's move on to some eye candy (as promised)! A shameless plug here... all photos (not the video) in this post were taken by yours truly.
